A lot of companies that create 'websites' as their primary product do not have Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in mind. They knock out quick two or three page websites with 'off-the-shelf' software that customers could use to create the same website if they only took the time. SEO is adding content, tags, keywords and many other features to a website that allows that site to get ranked higher in a search engine's (Google, Yahoo, Bing, AOL,etc) result set. Just looking at websites created without SEO it would not be readily apparent that SEO has or has not been incorporated. Most of the world uses these search engines to find anything and everything that they want to learn about, search for and buy.
